Amanda Zalokar, LCSW
School-Based Therapist
Amanda Zalokar graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with her Master of Social Work and Trauma Informed Care Certificate in December 2016, and has held her LCSW since October 2019. Amanda has experience working in a hospital-based setting, including both adult and adolescent inpatient units, as well as day treatment programs. It was during her time with a pediatric day treatment program where Amanda realized her passion for working with children. This program served students ages 6-11 whose behavioral and emotional issues interfered with their ability to successfully operate in the school setting. During this time, Amanda gained experience collaborating with schools on how they can better support the student in the school setting with hopes of avoiding future hospitalizations. Amanda has worked with populations of all ages, including clients and families struggling with or recovering from substance abuse. While Amanda tends to utilize a humanistic therapeutic approach, she draws from techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy and Attachment-based Therapy to best tailor treatment to the children and families she serves.
