This program works with families referred from the Winnebago County Human Services Department to maintain safety in homes where children are at-risk for removal or in the process of reunification. This program addresses a wide range of concerns including safety, enhancing the parent child relationship, parenting, household management, nutrition, safe and stable housing, service acquisition, education, employment, medical, mental health, and substance abuse issues. Emphasis is placed on helping families develop formal and informal systems of support, and resources. IHSS also serves Youth Justice clients to support their success in their home and in the community.

This program provides intensive parenting education and support to parents in building safe and effective parenting strategies with a focus on enhancing the parent-child relationship. PSP works alongside families as they address and support family goals related to increasing family engagement, regulating, addiction and recovery, behavior modification techniques, anger and stress management, basic life skills, and family budgeting skills. The model of service is a strength-based partnership with families.

This program is responsible for providing supervision between children who are in temporary foster care placement and their families. Workers arrange and supervise visits, observe interactions, and when necessary, transport children to and from visits. Information from these visits is documented and reported to Winnebago County.

Youth Support Services is a multi-faceted initiative that serves at-risk youth and their families. Youth Support Specialists work closely with the Winnebago County Youth Justice Social Workers to assess the various needs of clients including mental health concerns, emotional regulation, social skills, education, and truancy prevention. Staff work one-on-one with youth, utilizing goal-driven strategies to support the youth, and family, if needed. The Youth Support Specialists also facilitate youth groups as determined in partnership with Winnebago County.

This program is responsible for connecting clients with AODA treatment, providing recovery support, and being an advocate for the client. The secondary role is to assist with enhancing parent-child relationships and positive parenting. The service is intended to be intensive with 1-2 contacts per week. Recovery Specialists walk alongside a client by attending an initial AA meeting, transporting to client’s AODA or mental health appointments, connecting client to a sponsor and building informal supports.
